J. Todd Swicegood


Todd Swicegood got his start in the financial services industry as an advisor with a national brokerage firm in 1986, and has spent 30 years as a stockbroker and insurance agent. In his career, he has guided clients through the financial market turbulence of the 1990s and uncertainty of the 2000s. Todd built a private firm in Salisbury, NC, opened a chain of tax offices with his wife Karen, and – in 2014 – began a national franchised insurance organization. His success as a founder and partner of this company led Todd to launch SUNUP Insurance Services, Inc. After earning his degree in Business Administration from Barton College (formerly Atlantic Christian College), Todd received a post-graduate degree from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. While he firmly believes that education provides a solid foundation for success, he has found that work experience through setting and achieving goals is just as critical. He learned the value of relationship-building and the importance of client service first-hand. An avid outdoorsman, Todd loves hunting and fishing, and he holds Airman’s and USCG Captain’s licenses. He is an active member of Generations Church, and he enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Larry Pratt

Chief Marketing Officer

Larry Pratt has an extensive 26 year history as an executive in the insurance industry with Farmers Insurance Group of companies. While with Farmers, he successfully lead expansion efforts into eastern markets as the executive director of Alabama.

As the VP of Texas, he helped the company rebuild relationships with regulators and legislators during the industries mold crisis, enabling Farmers to set record levels of growth. He also held the VP territory head role for the state of California, generating growth in revenue in his first year, following 7 years of declining revenues. While the National VP of Sales he played a key role in rebuilding the company agency and employee field structures and in creating a competitive on boarding program for new agent growth.

He has executive experience in Marketing, Distribution, Agency Management, Product, Pricing, Claims and underwriting.

Robert “Bob” Lougen


Robert is a Principle centered leader with over 35 years of international experience in the tax services industry along with consumer financial services, business services, and crowd-funding. Robert spent most of his career at H&R Block Inc. in the U.S. and Canada, most recently as President of H&R Block Canada, where he achieved record growth in clients and net profit.

In addition, Robert has been the COO of Asurvest, a crowdfunding company, and the V.P. of North American Operations at Liberty Tax. Robert’s expertise includes franchising, strategic planning, leading in a fastpaced decentralized environment, and brand management.

John M. Clark


John has served as our Director of Training and Development since January 2017. Standing six-foot-six, perhaps it’s only fitting that John M. Clark’s personal motto is “Heads Held High.”  But it’s not because of his height that this successful local businessman takes this unique philosophy to heart.  “It’s three little words that perfectly sum up what I’ve believed throughout my life,” John says.  “Through my parents, teachers and coaches, I was instilled early on with a desire to always give it my all, to learn from my experiences and stay focused on what matters most in life.”

Rob Lopez


Rob is a native of the Greater Houston area and attended the University of Houston where he studied Broadcast Journalism and Business. He started his insurance career in 2004 as an Allstate Agency Owner, then in 2006 he went independent, and as Rob likes to say, “I’m never going back!”.

Most recently, Rob served as the Executive Director of Sales at Greenway Insurance, where he oversaw the Retail Agency and built one of the fastest growing Independent Agency Networks in the South Central Region. Prior to that, Rob served as the National Sales Director for Integra Insurance Services, where he led the expansion into 11 new states and the addition of over 100 new agency locations.

Lalo Diaz

Executive Director

Lalo has served as Director of Property Casualty Markets for SUNUP Insurance Services Inc. Since January 2016. Lalo got his start in the insurance industry in 2001 and today owns and operates a large property casualty agency in Uvalde, Texas.

Lalo’s professional career has also allowed him the opportunity to work as a Top Store Leader for a major grocery retailer in Texas, as SR Vice President of Lending for a regional bank, and today is serving his community of Uvalde as an elected Justice of the Peace. Along with owning his insurance agency, Lalo is also owner of a Liberty Tax Franchise, owner of a packing and shipping store and is a partner in an oilfield service company. Lalo bring a wealth of management and real life business experience.

Lalo earned his degree in Business Marketing from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
